I REALLY did not want to work out this morning.
I do my workout about 6:00am so that I can be ready to go for morning classes.
And I was NOT feeling it today.
I was tired...
I was cold...
I had a bunch of other work that needed to get done...
Plus the workout was push presses (which I like) and front squats (which I do NOT like... at least if there are more than 3 of them).
I remember when I first was getting into exercise, thinking that some day you must reach the point where you stop struggling with motivation.
That was about 10 years ago.
I haven't reached that point yet.
But you know what?
I sucked it up and made it through the workout.
I would tell you the secret if I could.
But there's no secret.
Motivation, like anything else, takes practice.
And I still struggle with motivation.
But every time I succeed in overcoming my laziness,
Every time I choose to workout instead of sit on the couch,
Every time I decide not to quit...
I get better at choosing action instead of inaction.
It never gets easier.
But you do get better.
Your threshold gets higher,
Your resilience gets greater,
Your fortitude gets stronger.
You'll get to where, when you struggle,
you start winning instead of losing.
And eventually, you'll win every time.
